The Texarkana Arkansas School District Board of Directors and Bright Futures Texarkana Arkansas are pleased to host a meet-and-greet to introduce Dr. Lloyd Jackson, the new Superintendent of the Texarkana Arkansas School District (TASD). This special event will take place on Tuesday, May 14, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the TASD Administration Building, located at 3435 Jefferson Avenue.
Dr. Jackson began his role as Interim Superintendent of the Texarkana Arkansas School District on April 15. His official start date as Superintendent will be July 1. As the school year draws to a close, this event presents an opportunity for community members to engage with Dr. Jackson, pose questions, and hear about his entry plan into the District.
“One of my primary goals for my first 100 days as Superintendent is to engage with district staff and community stakeholders and foster relationships built on a shared dedication to the success and well-being of all students,” expressed Jackson. “Since my arrival last month, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with our staff and several individuals and groups. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to connect with the TASD community during this event.”
Board President Jesse Buchanan expressed enthusiasm for the event stating, "Just as the Board has engaged in meaningful conversations with Dr. Jackson, we are excited for the community to have this opportunity to get to know our new educational leader as well."

The Texarkana Arkansas School District Board of Directors recently
voted to modify the 2023-2024 school calendar. The adjustment involves switching April 1, initially designated as a student holiday, to April 8. The decision to amend the calendar stems from the much-anticipated occurrence of the Great American Solar Eclipse on April 8. This cosmic event is anticipated to draw significant numbers of visitors to the Texarkana area. In light of safety concerns associated with the expected influx of traffic and visitors, TASD, along with over 100 school districts across the state of Arkansas, has opted to close schools on April 8. In summary, students will attend school on April 1 and will be out of school on April 8.
