Our second Book Fair of the year starts this Friday and runs through Parent-Teacher Conferences next Thursday! It's a great chance to grow your child’s home library with exciting new books. Your child will bring home a preview flyer this week, and you can use eWallet (linked below) to set a spending limit without sending cash! Any leftover balance stays for the next fair. We can’t wait to see our students' excitement! 📖❤️ #FairviewReads #FairviewForward https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/fairviewelementaryschool42

I just want to remind everyone that school starts back on Tuesday, January 7. Teachers will have professional development on Monday. I also want to remind everyone that school starts at 7:45. We begin with small groups/personalized learning time right off the bat. So if your student is missing the first 10 or 15 minutes, they are missing valuable learning time.

We are excited to announce that our Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place next week! If you have not already, you will soon be receiving a flyer. This is a wonderful opportunity for students, parents, and staff to explore a wide selection of books and educational materials. Here are a few important details to keep in mind: For Students: -Students with money are welcome to shop any time EXCEPT during their grade levels WIN time. We want to ensure they have the flexibility to visit the Book Fair at times that fit their teachers schedules. -Students who are shopping during other grade levels WIN time will need a pass. Since there will be a lot of movement in the hall during WIN time, we want to ensure we don't have students "shopping" without permission from their classroom teacher. For Parents: Parents are encouraged to come and shop with their children anytime during the school day or during parent-teacher conferences. Lunch time would be a great time to eat with your cuild and ahop at the Book Fair. We hope this will be a great way for families to participate and support our Book Fair.

4th grade conducted an experiment today to learn about “Energy Transfer” by placing hot water in cups made of different materials, and then soaking the same cup in cold water. Students had to take temperatures of the water, before and after the ice bath, to see which material transferred thermal energy (heat) the best! ☕️

We look forward to seeing all of our families on Monday morning. Students needing to be dropped off can be dropped off on 17th Street where Mr. Horton and Ms. Brainerd will be waiting. Just a reminder, learning starts at 7:45. If your learner needs to eat breakfsst at school (which is free, by the way) please have them here by 7:20 to give them plenty of time to eat. Again, we look forward to seeing all the smiles (and maybe some tears from our kinder parents...dont worry, we will take great care of them). Thank you for trusting us with your most valuable asset!
